  • Your business has an active Australian Business Number (ABN).
  • Your business is either a company, sole trader, or a corporate or natural person trustee of a trading trust (partnerships and joint trustees are not currently eligible).

No. There are no costs to employers to use Wagepay For Business. Any applicable service costs are charged directly to your employees when they use the service.

  1. Complete a quick online business registration with Wagepay using the Wagepay For Business web portal.
  2. Wait while we review and verify your business details, which we usually complete within two business days.
  3. Once we verify your business, we’ll let you know via email, and your account will be ready to use.

No. Currently, it is only possible to manage one business per Wagepay account. If you have numerous businesses that want to use Wagepay For Business, you must register each separately.

We do not refuse Wagepay For Business registrations lightly. In these cases, we’ll inform you why your registration was unsuccessful and any other relevant information.

Employee endorsement is when your business confirms the employment details of one of your employees and makes them eligible to receive business account benefits from Wagepay.

You’ll need the following employee details to endorse an employee.

  • Employee reference (this can be any reference you like, such as their employee number, payroll system number, name, etc.)
  • Employment type
  • Time employed at the business
  • Payment cycle
  • Next salary payment date
  • Next salary payment amount (this is an approximation)

An endorsement code is a unique code that we generate for each employee you add to your Wagepay For Business account. This code links your business account to your employee’s personal account.

You must provide this code to each employee so they can add it to their Wagepay account. The endorsement code is the only link between you and your employee’s accounts, which makes it simple for your business and private for your employees.

To endorse one of your employees, follow the instructions below in the app or web portal.

  1. Navigate to the ‘Employees’ section.
  2. Click the ‘Add Employee’ button.
  3. Complete the employee details, then click ‘Add’.
  4. You’ll then see a page with the employee’s endorsement code and an option to SMS the code to the employee. You’ll need to share the employee’s unique endorsement code with them.

If you don’t share the endorsement code with the employee after adding them to your account, you can also share it with them later.

To share an employee’s endorsement code with them anytime, follow the instructions below in the app or web portal.

  1. Log into the Wagepay For Business portal and navigate to the ‘Employees’ section.

  3. Find the employee reference of the employee.
  4. Use the ‘message’ symbol to SMS the employee their code, or the ‘copy’ symbol to copy the code to your device to share however you wish.

You can share your employee’s endorsement code with them again if they’ve lost it. You don’t need to reset or change the code.

An employee endorsement is valid for three months by default. After an endorsement has expired, your employee will lose any benefit associated with your business account, and you’ll be required to renew it. You can also renew your employee’s endorsement early at any time, extending the endorsement validity by another three months.

To renew an employee’s endorsement, follow the instructions below in the app or web portal.

  1. Log into the Wagepay For Business portal and navigate to the ‘Employees’ section.
  2. Select the ‘All’ option to view a list of all your employees.
  3. Select the employee reference of the employee, or click the ‘View/Edit Employee’ button for the employee.
  4. Click the ‘Renew Endorsement’ button.

Your employee’s endorsement code will not change, so there’s no need to share it again. The renewal will extend the endorsement validity period by another three months.

No. An endorsement from an employer does not guarantee employees access to Wagepay’s services. Employees are always eligible to apply for services provided by Wagepay, however, they are still subject to verification and approval processes.

While we’ll always try our best to approve wage advance requests, there are times when it may not be responsible to approve them for an advance.

You should keep your employees’ details up to date as much as possible.

At a minimum, you’ll need to renew each of your employees’ endorsements every three months, and you should take this opportunity to ensure all employee details are up to date.

Reasons include a repayment being in arrears, or if Wagepay has determined the wage advance product is unsuitable for the employee at this time. In these instances, your employees may contact the customer support team for assistance or reapply for an advance after seven days.

It will not impact your business account if an employee doesn’t repay their advance. We will not contact you or ask you for payment. Wagepay manages all wage advances directly with your employees.

Don’t worry though, we only ask for necessary information, so it won’t take long to add your employees’ information to your account.
