Employee endorsement is when your business verifies the employment details of one of your employees and makes them eligible to receive business account benefits from Wagepay.

You will need to have the following employee details to endorse an employee.

  • Employee reference (this can be any reference you like, such as their employee number, payroll system number, name, etc.)
  • Employment type
  • Time employed at the business
  • Payment cycle
  • Next salary payment date
  • Next salary payment amount (this is an approximation)

An endorsement code is a unique code that we will generate for each employee that you add to your Wagepay For Business account.  This code links your business account to your employee’s personal accounts.

You must provide this code to each employee so they can add their code to their Wagepay accounts. The endorsement code is the only link between you and your employee’s accounts, which makes it simple for your business and private for your employees.

To endorse one of your employees, follow the instructions below in the app or web portal.

  1. Navigate to the ‘Employees’ section
  2. Click the “Add Employee” button
  3. Complete the employee details, then click “Add”
  4. You will then see a page with the employee’s endorsement code and an option to SMS the code to the employee. You will need to share the employee’s unique endorsement code with them.

If you do not share the endorsement code with the employee after adding them to your account, you can also share it with them later.

To share an employee’s endorsement code with them anytime, follow the instructions below in the app or web portal.

  1. Log into Wagepay for Business Portal and Navigate to the ‘Employees’ section
  2. Select the ‘All’ option to view a list of all your employees
  3. Find the employee reference of the employee
  4. Either use the ‘message’ symbol to SMS the employee their code or the ‘copy’ symbol to copy the code to your device to share however you wish

You can share your employee’s endorsement code with them again if they have lost it. You don’t need to reset or change the code.

An employee endorsement is valid for three months by default. After an endorsement has expired, your employee will lose any benefit associated with your business account, and you will be required to renew it. You can also renew your employee’s endorsement early at any time, extending the endorsement validity by another three months.

To renew an employee’s endorsement, follow the instructions below in the app or web portal below.

  1. Log into Wagepay for Business Portal and Navigate to the ‘Employees’ section
  2. Select the ‘All’ option to view a list of all your employees
  3. Select the employee reference of the employee, or click the ‘View/Edit Employee’ button for the employee
  4. Click the ‘Renew Endorsement’ button

Your employee’s endorsement code will not change, so there’s no need to share their endorsement code again. The renewal will extend the endorsement validity period by another three months.

No. An endorsement from an employer does not guarantee employees access to Wagepays services. Employees are always eligible to apply for services provided by Wagepay, however, they are still subject to verification and approval processes.

While we will always try our best to approve wage advance requests, there are times when it may not be responsible to approve them for an advance.

You should keep your employee’s details up to date as much as possible.

At a minimum, you will need to renew each of your employee’s endorsements every three months, and you should take this opportunity to ensure all employee details are up to date.

You will need to cancel the endorsement of employees no longer employed by your business as soon as possible after their employment ceases.

  1. Log into Wagepay for Business Portal and Navigate to the ‘Employees’ section
  2. Select the ‘All’ option to view a list of all your employees

The maximum wage advance limit for new customers is 25% of their pay and can be even more for return customers, to a maximum of $2,500.  Their exact advance limit will be determined when they make an advance request based on several factors, such as their income and bank account history.

We can only advance a portion of their wage, rather than all of it, as we designed our product to be responsible and fair. It’s an advance of part of their wage that we believe they can repay on their next payday.

Unfortunately, there are situations where we cannot approve employees’ wage advance requests. Reasons include overdue repayment or if Wagepay has determined the wage advance product is unsuitable for the employee at this point in time. In these instances, your employees may contact the customer support team for assistance or reapply for an advance after seven days.

It will not impact your business account if an employee doesn’t repay their advance. We will not contact you or ask you for payment. Wagepay manages all wage advances directly with your employees.

No. There is no payroll system integration required to use Wagepay For Business. After creating a business account, you can add your employee’s details directly to our portal. Don’t worry, we only ask for a few basic information, so this will be quick.

Not yet. It is not currently possible to connect your payroll system with Wagepay For Business, however, this feature is under development and will be made available in due course. You’re more than welcome to tell us which Payroll system you use and we will try to speed up the integration.

Don’t worry though, we only ask for necessary information, so it won’t take long to add your employee’s information to your account.

Wagepay will cease providing business benefits to your employees when you close your business account. You will need to inform any of your current employees that they will no longer be able to access benefits associated with your business account.

Employees can still continue using the standard features of their personal Wagepay account.

To close your business account, follow the steps below in the app or web portal.

  1. Log into Wagepay for Business Portal and Navigate to the ‘My Profile’ section
